WWE Hell in a Cell 2017 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Hell in a Cell event set to take place on Sun., Oct. 8, 2017, at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. This is the ninth time WWE has held this particular event but it’s the first that is exclusive to the SmackDown Live brand.

We’re just one week from showtime. Here’s how the card looks right now:

  • Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon (Hell in a Cell match)

Owens has been upset with McMahon’s decision making for some time but he went over the edge after a series of referee mishaps led to his losing the United States title and failing to gain it back. McMahon ended up as the object of his ire. He said horrible things. He beat up Shane’s father. Now, this.

  • The New Day vs. The Usos (Tag Team Title Hell in a Cell match)

These teams have been going back-and-forth for a while, so it only makes sense to end it once and for all with a Hell in a Cell match. So that is what they will do.

  • Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE championship)

They failed massively with the writing of this story, which started with the usual “Jinder can’t win without help from the Singh brothers” before turning into “oh, he’s also racist too” before they hoped to replace that with “he’s just trying to be a comedian and failing badly at it.” It’s all been impossibly lame, but here we are.

  • Natalya vs. Charlotte (SmackDown women’s championship)

Flair won a Fatal 4-Way to determine the next number one contender and this is where she’s cashing in on that. Carmella and her Money in the Bank contract loom large.

  • AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin (US championship)

They’ve tried to have matches but something always gets in the way, like Tye Dillinger, and now he’s (maybe, probably) out of the way out, so they’ll have another match to see about how it all plays out.

  • Dolph Ziggler vs. Bobby Roode

Ziggler has spent a few weeks complaining that fans just love flashy entrances and style over substance. They don’t want a guy like him, who is just a better wrestler. Naturally, Roode was the man to answer his whining. Ziggler took this as an insult, because Bobby fits the bill. Or so he thinks. We’ll find out when they actually wrestle each other.

  • Randy Orton vs. Rusev

(shrug)

That’s the card!
